East Central BOCES is required to implement two factor authentication for its staff members.  This guide will explain how to enable this for your account.


This is required to be completed by January 31st.  If you have not enabled it by this time, you will lose access to your account.


STEP ONE - Install or verify that you have already installed Gmail on your mobile device.


iPhone/iPad - Go to App Store, Search Gmail and install if not installed already.




Android Device - Gmail should already be installed on your phone.  If not, go to Play Store, search for Gmail App and install.


Once installed, open the Gmail app.  Touch the icon in the top right corner to access your account.



If you have multiple accounts connected to your email and your ECBOCES is already listed, touch that account to make it the active account, click the icon in the top right corner again and then go to Manage Your Google Account.





If you do not have your ECBOCES account listed here, click on Add Another Account and go through the wizard to add another Google account and use your ECBOCES login to log in.


If your phone does not allow you to add another account, it is probably because you do not have a PIN set to open your phone.  Set a PIN in the security/login section of your settings and try again.




IF AT ANY TIME YOUR PHONE ASKS YOU TO ENABLE NOTIFICATIONS, SELECT YES.  NOTIFICATIONS NEED TO BE ENABLED SO THAT YOU CAN GET THE PROMPT THAT WILL ALLOW YOU TO LOG IN ON OTHER DEVICES.

















You should see a link to Security right under your name. 


 You might need to slide the screen over a little to access it.  Then click on it.



















From the next page, scroll down until you see 2 step verification.  If it says ON, then you have already successfully turned it on.





















If it is still OFF, lick on the icon to the right of 2-Step Verification.





















This screen will list the devices you have that you are logged into your Google account on.  Any of these devices will be receive prompts to allow you to log into your Google account.  You should see the phone that you are on listed here plus any other device that you log into your ECBOCES account on.













Cick on the Next icon at the bottom of the page.




 The next page will give you options for back up.   Select the backup codes option and then save them somewhere safe.  This is just in case, you cannot get a message on your phone for some reason.  You will be able to use these codes for accessing your account.



Do NOT set up the text/phone call as this will be disabled once this policy is enforced at the organization level at the end of January.
















At the end, select Turn On 2 Step Verification and you are done!
